Safety as a Core Value

Safety is integral to the solutions we provide our customers. Through training, communications and accountability, Unicom is committed to instilling a strong safety culture throughout our organization. Everyone in Unicom has a role in safety, especially our managers and supervisors. We all take ownership of safety in our areas of responsibility to ensure we have an effective and integrated safety process, that not only meets the requirements, but strives to exceed the expectations.

  • Held accountable for their direct influence and impact in our Safety Process.
  • They spearhead our safety initiatives, goals, and uphold our safety standards.
  • Job Safety Analysis (Completed per every site in order to create a comprehensive and thorough document, listing site specific emergency action plans, tasks, potential hazards, preventive measures, etc…
  • Job Safety Observations (Completed and conducted by CM’s, Field Supervisors and Safety Director to ensure that safe practices are being exercised, policies and procedures are being followed and quality is being held)
  • Industry related Safety Topics are discussed with the employees, in which the employee participates in a classroom setting and/or outdoor exercise.
  • Daily Vehicle inspections are conducted by the driver and Management conducts a weekly inspection in order to ensure the effective operations of our vehicles and the safety of the operators and passengers.
  • Gravitec Climbing and Rescue Training (All tower techs are certified annually and participate in a mandatory quarterly refresher training)
  • OSHA 10 and 30 (All tower techs are OSHA 10 Certified and CM’s and above are OSHA 30 Certified)
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (All tower techs and CM’s are CPR/First Aid Certified)
  • Radio Frequency Training (All Tower Techs and CM’s are RF Trained and utilize a RF monitor on every site they visit)
  • Additional Training: (Ladder Safety, Global Harmonized Systems, Defensive Driving, Confined Space, Capstan Operations, Rigging, Knots, Tool and Gear Inspections)
  • Our established Safety Committee and Manager meetings provides us with the opportunity to discuss hot topics and safety concerns with all level of our operations.
  • These meetings are documented, plans of actions are developed, communications are established, results are presented and after action reviews take place.
  • In-line with our commitment to address and subject any employee that violates safety policies to disciplinary action, we also recognized and commit the same effort to identify those individuals that take safety seriously and embrace our safety culture.
